The Success Story of the 8th International Conference on Social Sciences (ICOSS 2021)
The 8th International Conference on Social Sciences (ICOSS 2021) was successfully concluded on the 14th and 15th October 2021 in Virtual Platform under the theme “New Normal to a New Beginning: Formation of a Sustainable Society”. The conference was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) and International Association for Social Science and Humanities with the collaboration of the Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia, Mauritius Institute of Education, Mauritius, University of Sargodha, Pakistan, and Khulna University, Bangladesh.
The conference united diverse researches and case studies from all over the world, in parallel sessions while offering many networking and publishing opportunities. Moreover, the conference welcomed 70+ Academicians, Researchers, Scholars, Activists and Professionals from 𝟮0+ 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 across the globe.
Inauguration Ceremony
The opening remarks of ICOSS 2021 were made by Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Co-Founder & Managing Director – The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka) and the Conference Chair, Prof. Steven Ratuva, Director of Macmillan Brown Center for Pacific Studies and Professor of Department of Anthropology and Sociology, University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Representing Academic partner universities, Prof. Dr. Noryati Ahmad (Dean, Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia), Dr. Seema Goburdhun (Mauritius Institute of Education, Mauritius), Dr. Yasir Nawaz Manj (Chairman of the Department of Sociology & Criminology, University of Sargodha, Pakistan, and Prof. Tuhin Roy (Department of Sociology Discipline, Khulna University, Bangladesh) addressed the gathering.
The keynote speakers were TS. Dr. Chee Ken Nee, Smiee from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia and Prof. Sergio Adorno from the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Vincent La Placa, Associate Professor from Public Health and Policy, Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences, University of Greenwich, United Kingdom, Dr. Yasir Nawaz Manj from Chairman of the Department of Sociology & Criminology, University of Sargodha, Pakistan and Dr. Ruhaini Muda from the Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia delivered the plenary speeches. The Panel Discussion on “New Beginning Towards Building a Sustainable Society: Critically Unpacking the New Normal” which was moderated by Dr. Seema Goburdhun, Head of Social Studies Department, School of Arts and Humanities was successfully concluded with the great insights of the panelists, Dr. Sheik Abbass B Nazeerah, Head of Business Education Department, Dr. Oomandra Nath Varma, Former Director and Dr. Tejwant Mohabeer representing Mauritius Institute of Education, Mauritius.

The conference provided an opportunity for delegates to share their valuable knowledge and experience in Social Sciences from various perspectives. Moreover, the conference welcomed 70+ Participants from 20+ Countries around the world including New Zealand, Malaysia, Mauritius, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sweden, Singapore, Japan, Sri Lanka, Greece, South Africa, United Kingdom, Brazil, Thailand, Philippines, Ghana, Australia, Indonesia, Turkey, United States, and Nigeria. This conference had representation from almost every continent and regions across the world, to share views and ideas on Social Sciences and network with international colleagues.
